Supporting bachelor's degree students in agriculture, environmental science, and food systems at partner universities

Program Overview

The WNIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program is designed to nurture the next generation of food system leaders from the West Nile Region. We provide financial support, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to talented students pursuing bachelor's degrees in fields aligned with regenerative and inclusive food systems.

Scholars become part of the WNIH community, gaining access to our network of researchers, practitioners, and partner organizations working to transform food systems across the region.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a Ugandan citizen from the West Nile Region (Arua, Madi-Okollo, Terego, Maracha, Koboko, Yumbe, Moyo, Obongi, Adjumani, Zombo, Nebbi, or Pakwach districts)
  • Must be admitted or in the process of admission to an accredited university program in agriculture, environmental science, agribusiness, food science, or related fields
  • Must demonstrate a genuine interest in food systems, sustainable agriculture, or community development
  • Must have a strong academic record with at least a Second Class Upper or equivalent in previous studies
  • Must demonstrate financial need and provide supporting documentation
  • Must be willing to participate in WNIH activities and community engagement programs
  • Female candidates and candidates from refugee communities are strongly encouraged to apply

Application Process

1. Announcement

Scholarship opportunities are announced through WNIH official channels, partner universities, and local media. Follow our social media for updates.

2. Application Submission

Submit your application including academic transcripts, admission letter, personal statement, recommendation letters, and proof of residence.

3. Shortlisting

Applications are reviewed by the WNIH Scholarship Committee. Shortlisted candidates are contacted for interviews.

4. Interview

Shortlisted candidates participate in an interview (in-person or virtual) to assess motivation, commitment, and alignment with WNIH values.

5. Selection & Award

Successful candidates receive award letters and begin their scholarship journey with WNIH.
